About
the Degree Program |
|
The Associate Degree in Realtime Reporting prepares students for
a high-tech, potentially well paying profession in one of three specialties. The Judicial Reporting specialty prepares students for careers in the judicial settings as either officials or freelance reporters. The Captioning/CART specialty prepares students for careers providing captioning for broadcast television and Internet programs or to work with the deaf or hard-of-hearing population providing instantaneous text translation in education, civic, and corporate settings. The Rapid Text Entry specialty prepares students to work in the medical, legal, and insurance professions providing rapid data entry services. |

Technology Used |
|
Students at HJC
can choose between stenotype
theory and voice writing theory.
(Voice writing classes are only
available
online.) Stenotype is the
most recognized technology;
however, voice writing is widely
accepted in some states. Please
check with your state
certification requirements when
choosing a technology. The
curriculum is the same for each
technology. |
